The past five years have been an extraordinary period of growth. During that time, the vision I’ve carried for the past four decades finally became a reality: I embraced an aesthetic that has enthralled me for years and began incorporating ideas and concerns into my work that I had previously been unable to fully express.
Now, after many weeks of renovation, my website, salvadorcastio.com, reflects these changes as well. Its layout and design are more closely aligned with my work, while an expanded Writing section has allowed me to integrate my writing more meaningfully into my artistic practice.
What’s New
- Writing: A newly expanded section featuring Essays, Studio Notes, and Journal. Essays provide a place for long-form writing exploring my professional ideas and influences; Studio Notes offer glimpses of current projects and the work taking shape on my drawing table; and the Journal gives me a place to share thoughts on art, culture, music, and the wider world surrounding my work.
- Gallery: A refined and curated presentation of my Pre-Raphaelite-influenced work, earlier work, and work representing new directions in my practice.
- Artist Information: An updated Artist Statement and biography that more accurately reflect my current work, background, and artistic direction.
- News/Events: A newly structured section providing an ongoing record of exhibitions, publications, announcements, and other professional activity.
- Online Store: Coming soon, featuring high-quality open-edition prints of selected works, along with other items related to my art and practice.
Together, these changes have allowed me to create a website that more accurately reflects the artist and writer I have become. More than simply a place to present my work, it now provides a fuller picture of my artistic practice, the ideas and influences behind it, and the direction in which it continues to evolve.
I hope you’ll take some time to explore it.
